Heading to Halong Bay

Today we leave our hotel and the beautiful town of Hoi An. We are going to get on a big boat for two nights, which means we cannot do our blog for a few days. Happy holidays to all our friends at school, Vismaya, Amber, Awina, Carter and Mrs Allen; Nico, Gage, Alexis and Miss Duran.

Making lanterns

Today we visited a lantern factory. We made a lantern, which was really fun. To make a lantern we had to put glue on the sticks, then stretch and stick the material down. We got to choose our favourite colour. Alex chose red and Elizabeth chose pink and green. We also got another one for free.

Elizabeth at the potter's wheel

Today Elizabeth got to make her own pottery piece. She said the clay felt very squishy and wet. There was a lady who was spinning the wheel with her foot and a lady who helped Elizabeth make her little cup.

Dinner in Hoi An

Today Elizabeth and Alex arrived in Hoi An, a little town in Vietnam. They took two aeroplanes and slept on a train  to get here. For dinner tonight they are having spring rolls and rice pancakes. They are also learning how to use chopsticks to eat their food.

Happy Father's Day

What a great way to make Dad feel special. We came over to my parents' place today armed with a bottle of Baileys, a box of chocolate covered scorched almonds and a desire to clean something. This idea was mostly driven by me because my car desperately needed a wash, too.

Santaland at Myer

The highlight of our trip into the city was a ride on the Santaland train in Myer. They have a lovely display of Christmas decorations and this train ride that the kids loved. Afterwards we went to McDonalds for dinner then up to King George Square with about 2million other people to see them light the big Christmas Tree. Throughout all of this, the kids were way more patient than I was.

Looking at the Myer Windows

A big store, Myer, is famous at Christmas for their special window display that they do every year. This year was the Nutcracker. Ella, as you can see, was super excited by the display. Alex not quite as much.
